Your New Year's Resolution Should Be: Wake up before noon
You've been accused of sleeping your life away, and it's a little bit true - you are really into your pillow. In fact, it may be years since you've seen a sunrise at the *start* of your day. Sleep a little less. Some sunshine would do you good.
It's strange: I was just looking at my Album Collection and noticed that I don't have any CDs that were released in 2004; what's up with that? Was 2004 just a somehow unusually dismal year for me, musically? I reckon it might be because, unless I'm sure I want a whole album from someone, it's easier to just download the specific tracks I want. I'm sure this is the case for other people, too. Not that I didn't buy any albums this year...it's just that they were all from 2003 or earlier. Weird. Looked at my wishlist, too, and the only album I even just wanted that came out this year was Darren Hayes's new one. Hmm, actually, I think I'm about to order it online from Future Shop, so once I get it it'll be the one 2004 album I actually bought in 2004. Heh.
Went to Niagara today, just to look at the new (apparently) casino and walk around a bit. Was nice enough; buffet was good, but the benefits of an "all you can eat" deal are kind of wasted on me since I can't eat that many plates of food to begin with.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (teaser trailer) (at least one person in this trailer is on some sort of crack of some kind. And...huh, did anyone else realize that Violet Beauregarde is blonde? 'Cause I don't think that's how she was illustrated in the book. But maybe I just remember wrongly, because I don't actually own that...)
Constantine (which didn't really sound so interesting, but actually seems a bit more appealing to me than Chocolate Factory right now, for some strange reason... :/)
And this one's less new, but just for fun: this is one of the few trailers that makes me want to watch the actual movie even less. The only other trailer I can think of is the one for Van Helsing (which, consequently, I have yet to watch).
Flight of the Phoenix
There must be some mistake. Seriously. I just checked online to see if my final term marks have been posted yet, and one of them has been -- Business Information Systems, which so far during the term had been my lowest grade. So what is interesting (and clearly an error of some sort) is that my final mark in the course is about 10% higher than I was expecting it to be, which, according to my oh-so-adept calculations, would mean I got, like, 96-97% on the final exam. Holy bejeebies. That's just wrong, and surely they will rescind the grade tomorrow and give me my real mark. :/ Either that, or we all did horribly terribly on the exam and thus we all got extremely bellcurved. Because there's no way.....
Anyway, there's a bunch of stuff I've wanted to post about since at least, oh, 3 days ago, but don't really feel like it at the moment. Just wanted to stop by and share my shock/disbelief with y'all and now I'm gonna go do...something. Don't know what, yet. Have a good one. :)
So, the best way to spend your studying time is...how?
Version 3.12
New layout...and I just found the first feature in Paint Shop Pro 8 (free trial came with my computer) that makes me regret having only PSP 7, damn it. Sigh...
- Liv Tyler's new baby is named Milo William Langdon. Sure, Milo might sound vaguely like it should be a dog's name, but it's still better than "Audio Science" and all of those others, isn't it? (According to iVillage, Milo is a 2-syllable boy's name of Latin origin, meaning a soldier/warrior. As far as iVillage can tell, "Audio Science" is NOT A PROPER NAME. Who knew?)
- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe won't be out for another year yet, but I was watching the Behind the Magic video and it looks interesting. And I know next to nothing about the story, and will be smarter this time and NOT READ THE BOOKS first.
- Also recommended: the Making Cobwebs video at lordoftherings.net. Sure, all the stuff about how the spiderwebs in The Return of the King were made is cool, but the best part of the video is Elijah's laugh at the very end. :)
That's right, folks: the (final?) Lord of the Rings DVD is out today and, unless the pre-orders were so overwhelming that there aren't any left (doubtful), it is now available in a store near you. I hope. :)
Stop reading this. Go out and get one...or this guy'll stomp on you. ;)
"Huuuh? Uh, I mean...GRRRRRRRRR!!!"
(Pssst, is it odd that I think that troll is cute? I mean...just look at the expression on its face! Lol.)
So, like, I don't have any more assignments to worry about until next term; how cool is THAT?? All I have left is one more online Astronomy quiz. Oh, right, and an Astronomy exam two days from now. Oh, goody. Perhaps I should, oh I don't know, start reviewing my notes or something like that. I hear that's a good idea before you write an exam.
Um, so, sorry for all the "like"s and like, general spaceyness, but I'm feeling kinda out of it today (the British have that lovely word 'knackered' but sadly I can't think of a Canadian/American equivalent that has quite the same ring to it). I woke up with a splitting headache and was, therefore, disinclined to actually get up, which meant Mom and I left the house later than we were supposed to. Fine in my case, though, b/c I don't have class until 12 on Wednesdays and we just leave early so she can go to the gym. (I have nowhere near that kind of dedication. I also wouldn't want other people around if I were, at some point, to decide it would be a good idea to actually, like, work out a little. Then again, Mom does have an additional incentive because my brother bought her a one-year gym membership. That usually helps.)
Anyhoo, I'm sure that's all very, very interesting to you all, but like I said -- I'm kinda writing this on autopilot right now just because I'm waiting 'til it's time for my next class and I'm too sleepy to start reviewing my Astronomy notes now. (Too sleepy to study, but not too sleepy to go to class? I have fallen asleep in every Finance class this term, save two. D'you think I can get through today's? Any bets or guesses?)
What does everyone want for Christmas, anyway? Not that I'll get a chance to shop until a while from now and not that I can guarantee I'd actually be able to get what people want, but I'd be interested to know what people are wishing for (you know, in a material goods kind of way) this year.
Okay, so, like, I think I've reached my mental capacity to type anything else right now and quite frankly, I could use a bit of a break to do absolutely nothing for a few minutes before my next class. Absolutely nothing....that sounds great.
AAAAH! I just checked, on a whim, to see when the LOTR Symphony tickets would be going on sale, and guess what? They already are. It's not so bad, though, 'cause they just went on sale this Saturday and there are still good seats left. NOW all I have to do is figure out who wants to go and how many tickets I need. AAAAH! AAAAH! Am excited. Am a geek. If anyone (who I actually know, of course...) wants to go, let me know!!
p.s. It's really bleepin' snowing outside. This might call for a celebratory mug of hot chocolate at some point. :)
ETA (3:15 PM): Okay, the tickets have been ordered; 2 of them, because Susan said she'd like to go. Luckily, my mother used her non-geeky logical thinking to talk me out of getting the most expensive tickets, because as far as I know, there really isn't anything you really need to look at that closely. Sure, it'd be nice to be closer to the musicians, but it isn't necessary, right? So yeah. We're gonna be on the 2nd level balcony, off to the right a bit, and come to think of it, I don't know how good that is, because there's a big screen (I think) behind the musicians and who knows what we'll be able to see from where we are? Oh hell. Well, it's done, and I'm going, so that's all I can ask. :)
p.p.s. *grumbles* I thought this new computer was supposed to be faster, better, etc. etc. Couldn't even get some pages on the ticketmaster site to show up properly. Had better luck with the older, slower, noisier machine.... :P
